UK restrictions on travel from South America

On 15 January, the UK government introduced new travel restrictions for passengers flying directly from or transiting through the countries of South America (Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela), Panama, Portugal and Cape Verde.

Summary:

  • Passengers (not including British and Irish Nationals, or third country nationals with residence rights in the UK) departing or transiting through these countries in the last 10 days will not be granted access to the UK.
  • British and Irish Nationals or third country nationals with residence rights in the UK arriving from or transiting through these countries must self-isolate for 10 days on arrival in the UK, along with their household.
  • All direct passenger flights from these countries to the UK are suspended.

These restrictions are in addition to the requirement from 18 January for all passengers arriving in the UK to present a negative Covid-19 test before travel. See more information here.
