Canning House Membership Terms and Conditions
1. Introduction
1.1 Canning House Membership is offered and administered by Canning House, also known as the Hispanic and Luso Brazilian Council (HLBC), a registered charity in England & Wales (registered charity number 314210). Canning House Ltd, a subsidiary of HLBC is a company registered in England and Wales (company registration number 383775). The registered office is at 50 Broadway, London SW1H 0BL. The registered VAT number is 756832792.
1.2 Please read these terms carefully before applying to become a member of Canning House. These terms and conditions apply to Canning House membership and which constitute an agreement between you and Canning House.
2. Individual Membership
2.1 To become a Canning House individual member follow the instructions on the membership pages of our website www.canninghouse.org/membership/individual.
2.2 Individual membership is valid for one year and renewable yearly on the anniversary of the first membership period’s start date.
2.3 All prices for individual membership are annual payments in Pounds Sterling and are inclusive of VAT.
2.4 Individual memberships are issued in a personal capacity and are non-transferable.
2.5 You have 14 days from the date of confirmation of your membership to cancel your membership and receive a full refund. To cancel you must notify us of your wish to cancel in writing by contacting [email protected]
2.6 The cancellation right described in Clause 2.5 above only applies to new individual membership applications and does not apply to the renewals of existing memberships.
3. Corporate Membership
3.1 To become a Canning House Corporate Member follow the instructions on the membership pages of our website here: www.canninghouse.org/membership/corporate.
3.2 Corporate membership is valid for a period of one year from the first day of the month membership is purchased, and is renewable yearly on the anniversary of the first membership period’s start date.
3.3 All prices for corporate membership are annual payments in Pounds Sterling and are exclusive of VAT.
3.4 Corporate memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable.
4. Payment
4.1 Accepted methods of payment include for individual membership: Visa, MasterCard and American Express debit or credit cards. All payments for corporate membership are done via bank transfer and an invoice will be raised.
4.2 Individual membership costs £50 per annum, inclusive of VAT, and will automatically renew on the anniversary of the first membership period’s start date.
5. Applicant obligations
5.1 In applying membership and once granted membership you shall:
(a) ensure that all the information which you submit as part of your application is complete, accurate, and not misleading in any way;
(b) agree to and comply with the terms and conditions of membership; terms and conditions of events; and terms and conditions of website use.

7. Our right to refuse applications for membership or cancel membership
7.1 We reserve the right not to accept your application for membership if:
(a) we unable to obtain payment authorisation from the issuer of your credit/debit card or payment by other means; or
(b) you (or in the case of corporate membership, a company officer) have been convicted of a criminal offence which is not yet spent, or have a prosecution pending.
(c) during our routine due diligence, we discover that you have been involved in any kind of illegal activity, past or present.
7.2 We may suspend or cancel your membership immediately on notice if:
(a) you are in material breach of any of the terms and conditions of membership; terms and conditions of events; or terms and conditions of our website.
(b) you fail to pay your membership fee when due. Membership benefits will be suspended when membership payments are more than one month in arrears. After three months, suspended memberships will be terminated and those wishing to remain members will need to reapply as new members; or
(c) you become bankrupt or insolvent.
(d) we discover that you have been involved in any kind of illegal activity, past or present.
8. How we may use your personal information

9. General
9.1 We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation. We will always tell you in writing if this happens and we will ensure that the transfer will not affect your rights.
9.2 These terms and any non-contractual obligations arising from or connected with your membership shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and, subject to Clause 9.3, any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
