Canning House CEO Jeremy Browne participated in the 2024 Concordia Americas Summit, held at the University of Miami on 22-23 April. The Summit is a nonpartisan, public-private sector forum on Western Hemisphere affairs, attended by a wide range of senior figures from across the Americas, including current and former political leaders, top businesspeople and analysts.

Jeremy participated in the Tuesday morning session "Latin America's Response to Economic Rivalry and Manufacturing Innovations." Alongside him on the roundtable were Manuel Tovar, Costa Rica's Minister of Foreign Trade; Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, the Dominican Republic's Director General of Customs; Dr Olivia White, Senior Partner and Director of McKinsey Global Institute and McKinsey and Company; Dorothy McAuliffe from the US Department of State's Office for Global Partnerships; and several others.

The discussion focused on the ongoing economic rivalry between the United States and China, and its profound implications for the global economy; including those for Latin America, where economic competition affects trade dynamics, investment opportunities, and the evolving manufacturing landscape.

Amongst his remarks on a variety of subjects, Jeremy said “I think there is a leadership gap that the US is leaving behind, and that has implications.”

Also among the participants at the conference were New York Mayor Eric Adams, former president of Colombia Iván Duque, former president of Costa Rica Laura Chinchilla, and Secretary General of the Organisation of American States Luis Almagro.
