Optimists, including Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador,
believe there is a simple solution to the North American migration crisis. It
is to invest in economic development and create jobs in southern Mexico
and northern Central America (particularly in the ‘Northern Triangle’
countries – El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras). There is now a
‘Comprehensive Development Plan’ (PDI) that aims to do just that.
