30/04/2020 - Moro plunges knife into Bolsonaro as Covid-19 swamps Brazil

The coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and accompanying economic crisis have been unfolding to a background of political tensions in Brazil. These rumblings of disunity turned into a full-blown political crisis for President Jair Bolsonaro when his justice & public security minister, Sérgio Moro, resigned on 24 April, making some explosive accusations against the country’s head of state. The manner of Moro’s exit has increased the likelihood of Bolsonaro not finishing his term in office, heightening confusion and uncertainty in an already fragile government just as the coronavirus emergency is worsening.
