Peru's great economic & investment potential

On Thursday 19 January, PromPerú and Canning House held a conference discussing Peru's economic and investment outlooks, including contributions from the country's Ministers of Foreign Trade and Tourism, and Economy and Finance, and a panel of industry experts.

Following words of welcome from Canning House CEO Jeremy Browne and Peruvian Ambassador HE Juan Carlos Gamarra, Ministers Luis Fernando Helguero and Alex Contreras delivered special presentations providing insight into the economic and investment outlook of Peru. They covered various topics such as growth projections, trade and investment policies, and opportunities for foreign investment. Jonathan Wheatley from the Financial Times then spoke with Minister Contreras about his presentation, drawing questions from the audience on a wide range of topics.

Next, Melvin Escudero from El Dorado Asset Management chaired a panel with investment and industry experts from Anglo American, JP Morgan, Moody's and Mace. The panel provided more in-depth analysis of the current state of the economy across Peru's different sectors, as well as their own perspectives on the potential for investment in the country.

The conference concluded with closing remarks from HE Gavin Cook, British Ambassador in Lima, and Ricardo Romero, Director of PromPerú. It was followed by a networking reception.
