Canning House Chairman closes London Stock Exchange market

On Wednesday 9 October, the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) hosted a reception to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, centring on the closure of the London Stock Exchange’s financial market for the day.

After the gathered professionals and representatives of Latin America-focused institutions watched the processing of the day’s last trades, and counted down the final seconds… tres, dos, unoNick McCall, representing Canning House at the event as the organisation’s Chairman, played an especially important role: pressing the button to enact the market close.

Attendees gathered in the reception room for speeches from Nick and Aaron Fairchild, from Refinitiv, an LSEG business, which each focused on their own experiences of Latin America and the region’s importance to global business and culture.

Finally, Nick was presented with a glass tablet to commemorate his role in this special ceremony.

Canning House thanks its colleagues at LSEG and the Latinos for Empowerment, Advancement, and Development (LEAD) Network for their continued support, and for the opportunity to contribute to this important celebration. Just as the month’s theme expresses: “With Latinos, everything is possible!”
