Argentina win FIFA World Cup 2022

On Sunday, Argentina's men's team, led by captain Lionel Messi, beat France to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

In an exciting and often end-to-end match, hailed by many as one of the best World Cup final matches of all time, a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes led to a nail-biting half hour of extra time, in which both teams scored again to draw 3-3. All three of France's goals were scored by Kylian Mbappe, the second ever hat-trick in a World Cup final.

In the resulting penalty shootout, Argentina's goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez saved Kingsley Coman's penalty to take Argentina into pole position. France's next attempt, by Aurélien Tchouaméni, went wide of the post. Gonzalo Montiel scored Argentina's winning penalty, at 4-2.
