The Labyrinth: How Can Latin America Navigate the Global Economy?
Join us for an exclusive macro-economic briefing given by Andrew Powell, Principal Advisor in the Research Department at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
This event coincides with the launch of the recent IDB 2015 Latin American and Caribbean Macroeconomic Report which argues that the region is in the midst of a labyrinth and must navigate several global and domestic obstacles -including lower commodity prices and new types of financial risks- to ensure strong and sustainable growth.
The report suggests that many countries must make fiscal adjustments to avoid higher debt without compromising the significant social gains of recent years, and details both the types and speed of policies that may be adopted. At the event each country to fashion its own specific response based on its particular circumstances and further enhance productivity to attain higher, long-term growth.
At the event we will be focusing in particular on the following areas:
- The Latin American credit boom, is it over, what happens next?
- Latin American firms' balance sheets, what are the risks?
- Fiscal challenges and policy alternatives
- How to improve social indicators and productivity with limited fiscal resources
This is an event for Canning House corporate members. If you would like to attend please email: [email protected]
