Regional Dynamics - Security and Defence in South America

Canning House welcomes the Chilean Vice-Minister for Defence, Marcos Robledo, to give a talk on 'Regional Dynamics - Security and Defence in South America'.

Mr Robledo was a member of the Advisory Council for Foreign Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2008-2010, and from 2003-2010 he joined the Roster of Experts at the OAS (Organization of American States).

He has served as Faculty Coordinator of Latin American Social Sciences ( FLACSO - Chile), and Professor of International Relations, Foreign Policy and Research Design at the School of Political Science at the Universidad Diego Portales (UDP).

He previously served as an advisor on foreign and defence policy for President Michelle Bachelet (2006-2010); and as head of the Advisory Committee of the Ministry of National Defence of Chile.

In January 24, 2014 , the then President-elect, Michelle Bachelet, appointed him Vice-Minister for Defence, a position he assumed on March 11.
