Opportunities and Disability

  • Royal College of Nursing, 20 Cavendish Square, Marylebone, London W1G 0RN
  • 18.00-20.00

Canning House’s Opportunities Series examines, through various lenses, the opportunities and obstacles faced by disadvantaged groups in Latin America. The second event, Opportunities and Disability, considers the approaches to tackling the discrimination disabled people face.

The Latin American region is a leader in the global push to ensure the full inclusion of disabled people and guarantee their rights, freedoms and human dignity, hosting this year’s Disability Summit, Argentina 2019, but there is still a long way to go. This event  will compare effective disability inclusion strategies being developed in the UK and Latin America, and discuss scope for more international collaboration to strengthen public policy formulation.

Our expert panel will determine:

What opportunities – for economic security, political & social influence, and personal fulfilment – do disabled people have in 21st century Latin America?

What strategies, policies and regulations are needed to deliver equal opportunities?

How does the UK compare?

How can we collaborate to help one another?

The event will be followed by networking over wine and nibbles.
