The Canning Papers return in 2015 to look at a number of significant issues and topics that will be important to Latin America, and in particular in relation to its business climate and opportunities for UK companies to establish or increase their activity in the region.
The first paper, and corresponding briefing, will take a close look at the elections taking place in Latin America this year, the most high-profile of which will be the Argentine general election at the end of the year which will see the end of Cristina Kirchner's term as president as she is prevented to run again under the terms of the constitution. The will also be a Guatemalan general election in the latter part of the year, a Mexican legislative election and a Uruguayan municipal election in the summer, and a Suriname general election.
The briefing will also take stock of leadership shifts the took place in a bumper year of elections in 2014.
